Clean, renewable, local energy; green
jobs; and a sustainable environment: The Grays Harbor Ocean
Energy Company develops feasible and sustainable ocean energy
projects which are responsive to the needs of local communities, our
country and our planet.
The Company has identified the right
technology solutions for sustainable installation and operation of
large offshore wind/wave farms. The Company has obtained a
federal preliminary permit for a demonstration project of offshore wind/wave
renewable power generation at Grays Harbor in Washington state.
In November 2008 the Company applied for preliminary permits
from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the development of seven sites offshore of six US
states, each about 100 square miles and capable of generating up to 1000
MW each. The sites are in
California,
Hawaii,
Massachusetts,
Rhode
Island,
New York and
New Jersey. The permit applications
were for wave power only; the wave power will be generated from
platforms that can also support wind turbines.
In
April 2009 the FERC
changed its rules and eliminated the preliminary permit system for OCS wave power
projects, pending development of a new regulatory system led by the
Minerals Management Agency (MMS). FERC therefore dismissed the
seven applications by the Company. But our existing preliminary permit in Washington state
is not affected by this decision. We will continue our business in
other sites once a new permit system is established. The Company's plans
for these sites are not affected by the change in the FERC preliminary
permit system.

We will bring clean renewable wind
and wave energy to coastal communities with high energy costs while
creating green jobs and maritime jobs. We expect to finance this
largely with private investment. But it is a national ambition and
we are seeking Federal support.
All the sites use the same technology and general layout and all are in
Federal waters. They should be managed as an integrated project at
the Federal level. Managed together this is the largest renewable
energy project in the USA.
